For our final product we created a imovie about Catalina and sustainability. I am very proud of the final product, I had a major part in the creation of the film and believe it turned out extremely well.
To create the movie, we first uploaded the clips, then put them in order, cut them down to size, added subtitles and effects, did more cutting and shuffling and finally added music. I learned how hard it is to fit in everything the entire group wants in a short timeline, I think that was my biggest challenge.
After these two weeks my definition of sustainability is providing the needs for people today without endangering the people tomorrow.

Temite-mania!
1. Biomimicry means "imitating life, this is humankind takes attributes that nature has created and uses them to be helpful.
2. Termites are a great example for biomimicry research because microorganisms in the termite's stomach turns cellulose into hydrogen. This is where the termites stop, but humans can then take the resulting hydrogen to power vehicles.
3. An enzyme or a catalyst is a microorganism that helps to speed up a natural process.
4.Cellulose material is all the parts of plants that humans do not or cannot eat.
It would be more sustainable because sugar cane and corn are both edible, and using them for fuel deplete the amount of corn there is to eat, therefore driving the price of corn higher. But cellulose goes to waste anyway, so why not use it?

Homework
1. Sustainability is the ability to have needs accomplished today, without threatening the needs for people tomorrow. For example, when we use renewable energy sources ( i.e solar, wind, hydro power, biomass) we accomplish the need for electricity today, without jeopardizing the needs in the future.
2. Freegans are a sub-culture of anti-consumerists that eat, work and live off of mainstream societies waste. This group is growing fast due to the enormous amount of perfectly good items that are thrown out without a second glance.
3. Stewardship, as it relates to Enviormental Stewardship means being responsible for people that are not responsible. for example, if someone throws a piece of trash on the ground, an example of Enviormental Stewardship would be picking it up
4. Biomiciry means life (bio) copying (mimicry). this is taking concepts that nature has provided and turning them into useful items for humanity. For example, the airplane is a form of biomimicry, humans created a device to mimic a bird and the ability of a bird to fly.
5. An ecological footprint is a measurement of the impact that a specific thing has on the enviorment. For example, a ecological footprint could be a measurement of how many gallons of gas it takes to power your television for one hour.
6. Overshoot is the gap between how much supply there is and how much demand. Right now there is much more demand for natural recourse's than the earth can supply.
B. these two equations equal out to the formula for supply and demand.
C. 1987 was the year that humankind needed more from the earth than it could supply.
D. on October 6th, 2007 was the day that our country used up all the resources it had for that year, and this was when we started trading money for resources with smaller countries.

It Will Never Leave the Tent
Whispers fill the air, four children talking without care
for we know it will never leave the tent
so many secrets are shared, spoken during a game of truth or dare
for we know it will never leave the tent
on our phones calls are placed, not saying things face-to-face
for we know it will never leave the tent
calls of "shh" ring through the night as quiet time approaches it's height
but stil in wispers we will speak, for longer than a second, a day, or week
for we know it will never leave the tent
as the night growes cold, into our sleeping bags we fold
and tell about how we want our warm blankes, feeling back in our toes
for we know it will never leave the tent
soon dawn apoches, we arise, talk about our fun night
all the things that have been said, making us much closer friends
for we know, it will never leave the tent
P.S. Ms Staff please do not inquire about the specifics mentioned in this poem,
